He has also worked in Hindi, Telugu and Tamil films. He is one of the most celebrated stars and one of the highest paid actors of Kannada cinema. He is also one of the first Kannada actors to be listed in the Forbes list of top celebrities of India since He has received several awards including four Filmfare Awards South, two Karnataka State Film Awards and one Nandi Award. Sudeepa began his acting career with a supporting role in Thayavva () and Prathyartha (), followed by his breakthrough with a leading role in Sunil Kumar Desai's romance Sparsha (). He established himself in the critically acclaimed role in Huchcha ().
