Jordanian college basketball coach (born )

Mark Ozeir Trakh (born May 31, ) is a Jordanian college basketball coach who had been the women's basketball head coach at the University of Southern California (USC) from to and to Before his first stint at USC, he was head coach at Pepperdine University, and was head coach at New Mexico State University before returning to USC.

Early life and education

Trakh was born in Amman, Jordan and moved to the United States with his family at age 4. Trakh's grandparents are from the Caucasus Mountains and moved to Amman in to escape Communist rule in Russia. Trakh can speak Circassian and Arabic in addition to English.

In the U.S., the Trakhs first lived in Connecticut and Paterson, New Jersey before settling in Wanaque, New Jersey. A baseball and basketball student-athlete, Trakh graduated from Lakeland Regional High School. After high school, Trakh attended Fairleigh Dickinson University, before joining his family in Southern California and transferring to Fullerton College in A journalism major, Trakh was sports editor at the Fullerton College student newspaper and freelancer for the Fullerton News-Tribune. Coaching career

While in high school, Trakh coached junior high and youth basketball. Trakh was boys' sophomore head coach for Western High School in Anaheim in the –80 season before becoming girls' varsity head coach at Brea Olinda High School, a position he would hold from to Inheriting a program that won only four games in the previous two seasons, Trakh had a –45 overall record with four state titles (, –93).     Mazen "Maz" Trakh (born July 3, ) is a Jordanian-American professional basketball coach who is the head coach for APR BBC of the Rwanda Basketball League. Trakh previously coached in the National Basketball Association (NBA), Continental Basketball Association (CBA), American Basketball Association (ABA) and overseas.

    Coaching career

    Trakh served as an assistant coach at Riverside Community College from to and for the UC Irvine Anteaters from to

    Trakh helped lead Jordanian club Fastlink to the FIBA Asia Club Championship. His team became the first Jordanian team to ever win the championship.

    In , Trakh became part of the Rwanda Basketball League (RBL) for APR. He guided APR to the national championship in the RBL season, while being named Coach of the Year as well. He won the Rwanda Cup as well.

    NBA

    Trakh began working with the Oklahoma City Thunder prior to the –11 season, serving as the assistant coach focusing on player development for three seasons.

    Trakh was an assistant coach for the Detroit Pistons during the –14 season under coach Maurice Cheeks.

    Trakh served as the west coast advance scout for the Golden State Warriors during the –16 season.

    At the beginning of the –17 season, the Washington Wizards added Trakh to their coaching staff as assistant coach.

    Trakh's older brother Mark is also a basketball coach.
