Karad Vs Deshmukh battle in Latur rural
Karad will take on sitting Congress MLA Dhiraj Deshmukh, the youngest among the three sons of former chief minister Vilasrao Deshmukh.
Karad previously contested the assembly polls from Latur rural in 2009 and 2014 but was unsuccessful. Considered a close aide of late BJP leader Gopinath Munde, Karad was nominated by BJP to the upper house of the state legislature in 2020. Earlier, Karad, who is the nephew of educational baron Vishwanath Karad, had a brief stint with NCP before joining BJP.
According to observers, BJP has fielded Karad from Latur rural to give a tough fight to Congress.
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena (UBT) has named Rupali Patil for Hingoli seat. Patil, who hails from a political background, has had a successful stint at the local self-governing body in Hingoli. She will take on sitting BJP MLA Tanaji Mutkule. From Partur assembly seat in Jalna district, Sena (UBT) has named Asaram Borade, who will take on sitting MLA and former minister Babanrao Lonikar. While speculations were rife that Partur seat might go to Congress during MVA talks, Sena (UBT) secured the seat during seat-sharing discussions.

“Over the moon, am third time Kaka. My younger brother Dhiraj and Deepshikha gave birth to a beautiful baby boy... 25th May - the day my father was born, the same day his grandson arrives. Universe does join the dots,” Riteish posted on Twitter Sunday.
Fellow actor and relative Jackky Bhagnani was also happy about being an uncle.
“Happiest day of my life. I am a mama officially,” he posted on Twitter.
Jackky’s father and producer Vashu Bhagnani was also delighted because of the arrival of the new family member.
"I am very happy! Can't believe that I am a grandfather. I wish Dheeraj, Deepshikha and the little one a very happy and healthy life. When parents hear that their kids are happy and progressing in life, it's always good,” Vashu said in a statement.
He said his happiness multiplied as the little one was born on Vilasrao's birth anniversary.

The Shiv Sena(UBT) has given a ticket to Aaditya Thackeray from Worli. Alongside two of his cousins are making a debut. Aaditya's maternal cousin Varun Sardesai is contesting on a Sena (UBT) ticket from Bandra (East) while paternal cousin, Amit Thackeray, son of MNS chief Raj Thackeray, is on an MNS ticket from Mahim.
The Sena led by Eknath Shinde has named minister Uday Samant as the Ratnagiri candidate while his brother Kiran Samant has been named from Rajapur. In the same region, the BJP has named Nitesh Rane from Kankavli while his brother Nilesh Rane is set to fight on a Sena ticket from the Kudal seat. Nilesh who is a former MP joined the Shinde-led Sena this week.
Political observers said following splits in parties, several contests are multi-cornered and political families are getting "relatively easy access" to tickets. "Dynasty politics is so common that such candidates get accustomed to public life early on. But the fact that so many brothers are in the fray also shows that parties don't have many good candidates to choose from," said an observer.
In Congress, former minister and MLA Amit Deshmukh, son of ex-CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, is set to contest from Latur City which is a family stronghold. His brother, MLA Dheeraj Deshmukh w

Martha strongman and Union minister Vilasrao Deshmukh died of cardiac arrest at a Chennai corporate hospital on Tuesday after a planned liver transplant could not be performed because of the donor's demise.
The 31-year-old brain-dead donor died of a cardiac arrest before the liver could be harvested.
The condition of the Congress stalwart, who was already in a critical state owing to multiple-organ failure, meanwhile deteriorated further.
'The end came at 1.40 pm. It was unfortunate that we could not get the liver of a donor. But he was in a serious condition in any case,'
Dr K. Ravindranath, director of Global Hospitals and Health City, said.
The former Maharashtra chief minister is survived by his wife, Vaishali, and three sons - Riteish (Bollywood actor), Amit (Congress MLA) and Dheeraj (he manages family-run educational trusts).
'The body will be cremated at his native Babhalgaon village in Latur district of Maharashtra on Wednesday. It will be kept at his house in Babhalgaon from 9 am to 3 pm for people to pay their last respects,' his brother Dilip said.
The last rites would be performed by the leader's eldest son Amit. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi will attend the funeral as will Union ministers Sharad Pawar and Sushil Kumar Shinde, Congress sources said.
A meeting of the Union Cabinet on Tuesday evening, chaired by the PM, passed a resolution condoling Deshmukh's death.
The 67-year-old leader had been brought to Chennai in an air-ambulance on August 6.
He was put under the care of internationally renowned liver transplant surgeon, Dr Mohammed Rela.
