    The Vamps are a British pop rock band consisting of Brad Simpson, James Brittain-McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans. They formed in 2012 and signed to Mercury Records (now Virgin EMI Records) in the November of that year.

    In 2017, they scored their first number 1 on the UK Albums Chart with Night & Day (Night Edition). Their first two albums, Meet The Vamps and Wake Up are both certified Gold in the UK. The Vamps have also launched their own record label, Steady Records, and they are working in partnership with EMI/Universal. The first act signed was American band The Tide.

    In 2018, guitarist McVey participated in the eighteenth series of I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and finished in fifth place. They have continuously toured worldwide since their debut in 2012, and they are the first band to headline London's O2 Arena five years in a row.

    2011–2012: Formation[]

    James McVey was already managed by Richard Rashman and Joe O'Neill of Prestige Management. Deciding he wanted to form a band, McVey subsequently discovered Bradley Simpson in 2011 through YouTube. Together, the pair wrote songs towards the later months of 2011, with Simpson later becoming the lead singer. In 2012, Simpson and McVey met Tristan Evans through Facebook. The trio then met Connor Ball via a mutual friend. In mid-2012, the band started uploading cover songs to their YouTube channel. By October, they were being described as a new boy band, with special attention given to their YouTube performance of One Direction's song "Live While We're Young".

    Brad Simpson, James Brittain-McVey, Connor Ball and Tristan Evans, better known as The Vamps, have gone from strength to strength over the years since releasing their debut album 'Meet the Vamps' in 2014.

    With huge hits under their belt including 'All Night', 'Somebody To You' and 'Last Night', the boys have amassed a legion of loyal fans. Now with a new reVamped album and a sold-out anniversary tour keeping them busy, it's the perfect time to get to know the band better.

    How did The Vamps get their name?

    In an interview with disney.com, Bradley revealed that he and James came up with the idea for the band name when they were just going through a list of potential names. When they came to The Vamps he said it just 'felt right'.

    Connor added: "It also means a throwing together of things, which I guess we like to think we did as a band!"

    As one of Britain’s biggest boybands, The Vamps have created a huge international fanbase with their upbeat, fun, and radio-friendly music. The group consists of four boys: Connor Ball, Tristan Evans, James McVey and Brad Simpson. Together, they have hit the charts with singles such as Can We Dance and Last Night both hitting number two in the UK pop charts in 2014. Since their debut, the boys have been climbing the ladder to fame one song at a time.

    It all began when the boys took to social media to showcase their talent for music. Using their own individual YouTube channels to both seek and express their passion for music, they eventually formed a group after finding each other online. After coming together, their lead single ‘Can We Dance’ made its debut on the platform and striked up to 2 million views within its first two weeks of being aired. Since then, their views on YouTube have totalled to over 800 million.

    Having had their first two albums Meet The Vamps and Wake Up certified Gold in the UK, the band are on the right track for success and show a promising future within their musical career. Alongside their musical endeavours, some members have broadened their scopes and participated in further projects including reality TV. In 2018, guitarist James McVey participated in the reality television show I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!

    Aside from reality television, the band have been involved with contributing to soundtrack of films such as Kung Fu Panda with their cover of Kung Fu Fighting, as well as collaborating with an extensive list of artists. Some of these include Demi Lovato, Maggie Lindemann, Sigala and Machine Gun Kelly as well as Norweigan DJ Matoma and Danism EDM producer Martin Jensen.
