Lopamudra raut biography books

Lopamudra, who won hearts with her beauty and brain, was born and brought up in Nagpur and has an Electrical Engineering degree. The 24-year-old has participated in beauty pageants such as the Femina Miss India and Miss Diva since 2013, but it was only in 2016 that she finally got a chance to represent India on an international podium. On September 25, 2016, Lopamudra bagged the second runner-up spot at Miss United Continents, which was held in Guayaquil, Ecuador. The model even took to Twitter before entering the Bigg Boss 10 house and thanked her fans, family and friends for their support and while speaking to the audience, the model went a bit emotional too.

While it will be interesting to see what all she can do to grab eyeballs and gain popularity inside the Bigg Boss house, in the outside world she has quite many hobbies out of which travelling and socialising are her favorites. Lopamudra Raut is a well-known model and beauty queen. She represented India at the Miss United Continents 2016 pageant and was crowned the 2nd runner up. Raut was a strong contender in reality show ‘Bigg Boss 10’ and was also a participant in ‘Fear Factor - Khatron Ke Khiladi 2017’.

How did it all begin? When did you realise this is the path that you are going to get on?

It all started from the thought that I wanted to participate in Miss India. I used to be an engineering student (I am an electrical engineer now). During my engineering days I realised that there is probably a lot more to my life and not just engineering. I never saw or imagined myself in a salaried job. My parents have been working for the Government of India and I have seen the pros and cons. It’s very difficult for the child when both the parents are working. I have seen those days and the hardships; it’s not that I am not hard working, but I did not see or imagine myself doing that. My parents have served for the Government of India on a very high authoritative role, but I didn’t think I was made for it.

Every time while I used to sit in my class as an engineering student, I used to look at the board, and it said, “Strive hard to get what you like, otherwise you will be forced to like what you get”.

Indian beauty pageant

Miss India, also known as Femina Miss India, is a national beauty pageant in India that selects representatives to compete in the Miss World competition, one of the Big Four international beauty pageants. It is organized by Femina, a women's magazine published by The Times Group.

The current Femina Miss India World is Nikita Porwal from Madhya Pradesh. She was crowned by the previous titleholder, Nandini Gupta, on 16 October 2024 in Mumbai.

History

The first Miss India was Esther Abraham, from Calcutta, who won the title in 1947. The pageant was organized by the local press.

In 1952, two Miss India pageants were held. Indrani Rehman and Nutan were the winners. Nutan was crowned Miss Mussorie, while Rahman was crowned at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Rahman later represented India at the first Miss Universe pageant in 1952.

In 1953, Peace Kanwal from Punjab was crowned Miss India at the Kardar-Kolynos pageant, organized by filmmaker Abdur Rashid Kardar. She later became a Bollywood actress.

In 1954, Leela Naidu from Maharashtra was crowned Miss India. That same year, she was featured in Vogue magazine's list of the world's ten most beautiful women.

There was no Miss India pageant between 1955 and 1958. In 1959, Eve's Weekly organized its first Miss India contest, with Fleur Ezekiel winning the title. She went on to represent India at Miss World 1959 in London.

The first Femina Miss India pageant was held in 1964. Meher Castelino Mistri of Maharashtra was crowned the winner and represented India at Miss Universe 1964 in the United States and Miss Nations 1964 in Spain.
