She said, “Because I am a born Christian, my mom always wanted to see me in that Christian attire –the wedding gown kind of a thing. But, since I have become a Hindu, and we have to do a Hindu wedding, I just thought it should be like a beautiful mix of both a Hindu and a Christian wedding. So we kept it a Hindu wedding with an English touch.”

For her special day, she opted for a red saree which had her and Vignesh’s name on it. She said, “I didn’t want to go the Kanjeevaram saree route because I have done it so many times in a lot of my films. So, it wouldn’t feel like my wedding for me.”

In the recently released Netflix documentary, Nayanthara: Beyond the Fairytale, the actor opened up about her past relationships, the learnings from it, and the toll it took on her before finding her peace in her husband, filmmaker Vignesh Shivan. “My first relationship was purely based on trust. The trust that the other person is in love with you,” said Nayanthara in the documentary without taking any names. Her first relationship after entering cinema was with actor-filmmaker Silambarasan TR.

They worked together in Silambarasan’s debut directorial, Vallavan, and made headlines with the news of them being together. In many ways, they were the ‘It couple’ of that era. Both young and primed to move up the ladder in Tamil cinema, and it was something that wasn’t seen in the industry for a long time. Vallavan too marked the first time Nayanthara kissed onscreen, and a particular ‘glamorous’ poster became a talking point for quite some time.

The relationship didn’t last long, and both moved on, albeit in not so amicable terms. Annapoorani: The Goddess of Food is a 2023 Indian Tamil-language drama film directed by Nilesh Krishnaa in his directorial debut and jointly produced by Jatin Sethi and R. Ravindran under Zee Studios, Naad Sstudios and Trident Arts. The film stars Nayanthara in the title role, alongside Jai, Sathyaraj and Achyuth Kumar. It follows Annapoorani, who aspires to become a chef, but faces numerous obstacles while trying to fulfill her dream.

The film was officially announced in July 2022, with the tentative title Nayanthara 75, as it is Nayanthara's 75th film in the lead role, while the title of the film was announced in October 2023. Principal photography commenced in April 2023 in Chennai along with a schedule held in Tiruchirappalli and wrapped by mid-September 2023. The film has music composed by Thaman S, cinematography handled by Sathyan Sooryan and editing by Praveen Anthony.
